Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JOSH JONES: Houston, 6051 319 5.27. Four-year starter, Richmond, TX. Earned second-team All AAC honors in 2019. Put together a solid season and earned an invite to the Senior Bowl where he performed well all week against the stiffest competition he faced. His length and power game are small red flags but he has the foot speed and techniques to hide them. A really smooth operator who knows and trusts himself. If he can improve his power game and continue to progress his skill set, he can be a starter in the league. Lean build that carries his weight well with room to grow. Crafty with his hands and feet. Assertive out of his stance and will replace his hands over and over. Prevents the defender from locking onto him with quick and violent swipes. Will long-arm the pass rusher as they glide up the edge. Stays in his athletic, knee-bent stance while keeping his feet active. Very easy mover below the waist, comes natural and consistent. Will re-anchor and recover if he loses the initial battle. Stays in it, usually won’t abandon his technique. Has a core strength issue. Needs his own key to the weight room so he can get his power game to match up to his speed and quickness game. Doesn’t go for a big punch, sits back and catches contact. Will get caught lunging in space, most notably at the second level as a run blocker. Doesn’t take proper angles. Hands will get caught low, making him late to get his hands on. Need to see more overall violence in his game. OSR:27/41. Second/third round. (A-33 7/8, H-10 1/8, BP-24, 10-1.81).
