Led the Bison to a National Championship while going the entire year without throwing an interception. He is the definition of a risky draft pick. Lacks starting experience, and he didn’t have to throw the ball a ton. There is so much unknown here, but nobody can argue against what he actually put out there when on the field. Has an ideal blend of tools and showed really good intelligence. Is advanced on multiple ball handling tactics and his footwork looks natural and easy. Has the upside to be one of the best players in this class at the ultimate position. The question will be just how big of a learning and adjustment curve will it be for him, coming from FCS and playing in just one game since the end of the 2019 season. Capable of playing off schedule. Comfortable both in the pocket and scrambling in space. Has a strong and functionally thick frame with plenty of twitch and foot quickness. Can play both fast and strong against contact. Ball shoots out of his hand, creates tremendous torque from his hips and makes it look effortless. Knows when to put extra juice on the ball and has more than enough power to do so. Throws a very catchable ball that is especially accurate and friendly downfield. Good ball placement. Feet are very in sync with his body and arm. Sets himself up well. Rarely turns the ball over. Inexperienced as it gets and played at a lower level of competition. Wasn’t asked to throw the ball much, but did go through multiple progressions. A mature and poised quarterback in the pocket. Excelled in a run-oriented offense and ran the quarterback counter trey like a veteran NFL running back. Sturdy build. Stands tall in the pocket and sees the full field very well. When things break down he creates plays with his legs. He will need to get used to the speed and timing of the NFL game. Processing, anticipation, and handling new situations are all a work in progress. However, Lance’s arm talent and running ability make him the ultimate weapon for any offense to provide impact play.
