Junior entry, two-year starter, Starke, FL. Two-time All-Conference USA, including first team honors in 2022. Also won the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year Award and finished as an All-America. McBride averaged 7.3 yards per carry throughout his career (486 carries). No matter what level of college football, that is a historic number. It’s the 11th highest in FBS history. There are a few warts in his game but there is no denying the production and consistency. Has great feel and vision, playing one step mentally ahead of defenders which created a lot of yards after contact. Anticipates running lanes and often gets a head start through the crease. Creates angle advantages and can run deceptively. Great tempo and short area burst. Lowers his pad level against oncoming traffic and stays on his feet. A fighter that rarely goes down when initially contacted. Nine fumbles since the start of 2021 match up with poor ball handling tactics. This is a must-fix. Does not have the final gear to get away from defenders in space. Will not explode from a standstill into a short-lived opening. Just five career catches and poor blocking performances will make it hard for him to stick on third down. Was extremely productive but he is one dimensional The fumble issues and questionable long speed are the two biggest hurdles he will need to get over. Will be a nice backup at the next level with the potential to be more.
2022 Stats: 1713 yds, 7.4 ypc, 19 TD. 6th/7th round.
