Ourlads' Profile:

2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about JOHNATHAN ABRAM: Mississippi State, 5113 205 4.44. Two year starter from Columbia, MS. Transferred from Jones County Junior College after playing as a freshman at Georgia and became an instant starter in Starksville. Fits the role of the nickel hybrid or big nickel and projects there as a pro. Plays like a linebacker over a slot and can take on tight ends or slots with a quick punch and separate. Physical with power attacking a block. Quick to shed on the move. Bends his knees when striking or tackling and finishes tackles with leg drive. Keeps his feet moving. Can play in space and adjusts well to cutbacks and bounce outside. Has the speed to chase across the field. When rotating to a deep zone can cover ground reacting to routes in the up field. Plays the underneath zones using solid short area quickness to react to route pressure and break on the ball. Has match-up skill versus a tight end and can stay with vertical routes up the field. Some hip tightness which affects his ability to flip on deep route break. Can get separated in the deep coverage. Recovery speed and anticipation helped minimize the issue. Will play out of control at times and miss a tackle. Can be over aggressive and out of position. Not as good tracking from depth as playing close to the line. His speed puts him in line for special teams’ duty and should be a force. Whoever drafts him will do well to minimize his exposure to one high coverage if he is a starter. His best fit is with a team that predominantly uses a big nickel package. He can be that hybrid and contribute right away. 2018 stats: 99 T, 9 TFL, 3 sacks, 5 PBU, 5 QBH, 1 FF, 1 FR, 2 INT. BTR:left 4.82, right 4.90. OSR:12/24. Second/third round. (A-31 3/8, H-9 5/8, VJ-33.5, SS-DNP).
