Cincinnati, 6040 237 4.85. Two-year starter, Cincinnati, OH. Also started for two years at Connecticut before transferring to Cincinnati. Second team All-AAC in 2020, first team in 2021. Was also a Butkus Award finalist in his final season. Converted from wide receiver early in his college career. Strong, physical player with the size to play inside or outside. Old school thumper who plays the run from tackle to tackle. Very good key diagnose he is instinctive playing inside running lanes. Patient with his read he is adept at ball side leverage and protects the cutback. Run fits are a major strength. Strong with hands to attack blocks he bends his knees and keeps his hands inside. Can stack and shed on the move and does well versus climbing blockers. He can get through multiple blocks working downhill to the ball. Fundamentally sound tackling skill he can drop an inside runner in his tracks. Shows blitz skill and can get through pass protection with his length. Decent zone drops he processes routes well and can get under intermediate routes. Lacks great lateral movement and is not much of a factor outside the tackle box. Struggles in space and angles and block protection suffer as the play moves outside. Lateral movement and agility are limited. Lacks the agility to match receivers and was used to blitz more than cover. Likely ceiling projects as a two down run stuffer. Has played well on special teams and he will need to continue that to make a team.
