Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about TARIQ CASTRO-FIELDS:
Penn State, 6005 197 4.38. Three-year starter, Upper Marlboro, MD. Honorable Mention All-Big 10 in 2021. Has the size and speed teams look for in a corner. Has experience in a variety of coverage including deep outside zone, press and off-man. In off coverage shows a smooth pedal at the snap and an easy seamless turn-and-run on vertical releases. Normally maintains cushion space and times turn and reactions to route breaks to stay in phase. Has the speed to run with fast receivers up the field. Shows a quick break and drive on forward and lateral transitions. Has a burst to drive on short throws in front. As a zone defender flashes the ability to balance receivers in overlap zones and react to the quarterback’s delivery key. Can go up and get to the catch point. When in phase, he normally locates the ball and is effective playing 50/50 balls. Solid in run support, he pursues to the ball with range to chase across the field. Plays off blocks with quick hands to shed and makes a lot of wrap tackles. Could be more physical tackling, as at times he gives up yards after contact. As a press corner he flashes solid play but is inconsistent in close quarters. Has the strength to disrupt at the line but gives up too much room at times. He needs to consistently focus on the receiver. Plays a little high and can be a little slow reacting to quick cuts creating separation. Has been beaten with double moves early in the route and finds himself in recovery mode. Has special team potential and traits of a versatile corner. Needs development.
