LSU, 6026 327 5.21. Two-year starter, Marshall, TX. After backing up all three interior spots, Hines started for two seasons at right guard. He missed the final month of the 2021 season with an injury but did return in time to play in the Senior Bowl as a late roster addition. Has a big and wide frame that comes along with an explosive game off the snap. Can do tremendous damage when everything is lined up correctly. The issue is that his techniques are not repeated snap to snap. His footwork is all over the place and it creates a lack of control and stability which makes sustaining blocks unlikely. His feel for the game is not quite where it needs to be yet. He can back up the interior spots while a coach tries to instill more consistency but there is no denying the potential that stems from his size and pop. Plus-sized when it comes to overall mass and length. Plays with explosive hip extension and an upper body that can deliver a violent blow. Gets his hands on in a hurry and will bring his lower body to the party. Can create a lot of movement against oversized interior defenders when his lower and upper body are in sync with each other. Excels coming off combo blocks to the second level. Athletic upside combined with his mass and power give him a sense of upside. Shows flashes of high-level play across the board. Shows a poor feel for the game when it comes to spacing and angles. A slow decision maker that does not see the defense well. Inconsistent footwork. Plays too narrow and off balance. Too reliant on the upper body to do the work.
