Ourlads' Profile:

2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JOE GAZIANO: Northwestern, 6041 281 5.10. Three-year starter, Scituate, MA. The ultimate effort player Gaziano lacks some of the traits of an NFL edge defender but his motor more than compensates. Aligned most often as a five technique he’s a smart player with solid fundamentals. Physical at the point of attack he plays with a low pad level and consistent leverage on blocks. Heavy hands attacking blockers he has an arm under move to rip through a block on the move. Moves well laterally for his size and can make plays down the line. Keeps his feet moving and his motor doesn’t stop. Makes plays with second effort. As a pass rusher works well on inside stunts. His lower body power pushes blocks back into the quarterback. His bull rush creates disruption and collapses the pocket. Second effort coming off a block has been a factor in his nine sacks. He was also credited with two safeties. He is athletic enough to drop in the flat on zone blitzes. Lacks the quick first step and bend and burst around the corner. Can be a little slow to read on  the snap at times and get stalemated. Projects to a 3-4 defensive end that can move inside in passing situations. He wasn’t at the Combine and won’t get the love from NFL teams that a guy like Chase Young gets, but he can be a productive player in the right scheme. Pro day numbers: 32.5/VJ, 9-3/BJ, 4.61/SS, 7.50/3 cone. 2019 stats: 49 T, 17 TFL, 9 sacks, 5 PBU, 3 QBH, 3 FF, 1 BK. No Combine workout-his choice. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 3/4, H-9 1/2, BP-25, 10-1.67).
