Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about COLLIN JOHNSON: Texas, 6056 221 4.60. Three-year starter, San Jose, CA. Has been the number one or two receiver for Texas for three straight seasons. Son of former NFL defensive back Johnnie Johnson. Suffered a hamstring injury that limited him to just six games as a senior. Has difference-making height and length that doesn’t need a lot space or separation to work. He can be trusted in jump ball situations and he has shown upside as a route runner with crafty footwork and body control. There may be a cap on just how high of a level he can reach because of his stiff movement and lack of game speed, but an effective offensive mind will find a role he can contribute to weekly. Looks like a giant next to defensive backs. Has a power forward’s approach when going after the ball. Comes downhill hard after it with arms extended and awareness of where the defender is. Has some niftiness to his footwork as an underneath route runner. Knows how to get the most out of himself athletically when trying to separate. Understands the game inside and out. Shows some stiff movement that likely won’t go away considering his high-hipped body type. Slow to accelerate downfield and will have a hard time getting through a secondary over the top. Struggles to adjust. Doesn’t always play as physical as his frame would suggest. 2019 stats: 38-559, 14.7 ypr, 3 TD. Medical exclusion at Combine. Fourth/fifth round. (A-31 3/4, H-9, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
