2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about KYRON JOHNSON:
Kansas, 6003 236 4.75. Three-year starter, Arlington, Texas. Second-team All-Big 12 selection last fall, Honorable Mention All-Big 12 in 2020. Fits best as a rotational pass rusher in the NFL with potential as a Will linebacker. Undersized, athletic edge defender who shows ability to change direction fluently in the open field, notable acceleration, and quality foot quickness and agility when stunting. Can win in pass rush using burst off the line of scrimmage, overall athleticism, and foot speed combined with bend on the edge. Gets off the ball with good pad level and engages with solid hand placement. Versus outside runs to his side he shows exceptional pursuit skills, competitiveness, and range to leverage the running back to the sideline. Takes good angles, and shows ability to tackle in space. Makes numerous plays due to effort in pursuit. Cannot be relied upon to consistently win versus run as he lacks anchor and functional strength to leverage his gap. Will get overpowered by offensive tackles on the edge. Cannot be trusted to win with power as a pass rusher. Needs to improve hand usage in pass rush. Has many traits you look for in a Will linebacker, and his versatility could help him get drafted.
