Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JAMYCAL HASTY: Baylor, 5080 205 4.55. Four-year contributor, Longview, TX. Finished top three in the team’s carries all four years. An honorable mention All Big 12 back in 2019, Hasty lacks the ideal triangle numbers but it is easy to see this kid runs bigger than his size. He is a violent, mighty-mouse type runner who consistently breaks through contact and will create afterward. He is an underrated pass catcher who, once he has a head of steam, will not be a welcomed sight for defensive backs in space. Has bad intentions when he plants his foot in the ground and moves north. Built like a brick and brings the same unwavering force on contact with defenders. Low to the ground with quick, assertive footwork that is capable of getting north in a blink from any position. Short legs, light feet. Set up perfectly for change of direction and balance. Will take on contact, undeterred and undistracted. Already thinking and maneuvering for his next move as initial contact approaches. Quick, violent burst and acceleration. Runs behind and under his pads with anger. Can make the spectacular catch away from his body on the move. Will come across as tight, lacking wiggle. Doesn’t naturally locate running lanes and creases between the tackles. Won’t create much on his own, not innovative or creative. Blocking needs a lot of work. He is all-or-nothing with his first pop and doesn’t stay engaged afterward. Hand and feet techniques need to be learned and practiced. Ball security became an issue in 2019 as his carries went up. 2019 stats: 627 yds, 5.8 ypc, 7 TD, 25 rec, 184 yds, 7.4 ypr, 0 TD. OSR:6/33. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31 1/8, H-9 1/4, BP-15, SS-4.03).
