Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about ROSS BLACKLOCK: TCU, 6031 290 4.92. Junior entry, two-year starter, Missouri City, TX. Ended his career with a 2019 first-team All Big 12 honor. Blacklock opened eyes as a redshirt freshman in 2017 but a torn Achilles tendon prior to the start of 2018 forced him to miss the year. He bounced back with vengeance, sharing the team lead with 3.5 sacks while adding 9.5 tackles for loss. He is a disruptive penetrator with excellent size and burst. He can close a gap in a hurry in pursuit but also shows a power game upon contact with blockers. He is an upside-based pick that can be a package defender right away with the potential of being a top tier interior pass rusher down the road. Twitchy in traffic, explosive in space. Can jump out of his stance and put a blocker on his heels. Equals that ability to make the offensive line adjust with how easily he moves laterally. Can jump from gap to gap post-snap in an instant while still pressing the pocket. Can turn the edge with ease. Plays with a low center of gravity and will take the most efficient path to the action. Strong hands with a violent, nasty stab to the blocker’s chest. Almost always the first to get his hands on. Will stand a blocker up and create a path to get around. Will disengage and attack the ball carrier. Very mobile, athletic, and fast with a high motor. Needs more staying power against the double team. Overly reliant on lateral movement to create space. Not an every down fit in some schemes. Lacks variety and fine-tuning within his rush moves. 2019 stats: 40 T, 9 TFL, 3.5 sacks, 3 QBH. Edge speed:left 2.03, right 2.08. OSR:6/19. Second/third round. (A- 32 3/8, H-9 3/4, BP-DNP, 10-1.70).
