Ourlads' Profile:

2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about MICHAEL CARTER: North Carolina, 5077 202 4.54. Started games all four years, Navarre, FL. Led the team in rushing his last three seasons. First-team All ACC in 2020, third-team in 2019. Carter is the prototype third down back when it comes to running routes, catching the ball, and making plays. He is productive on all fronts and set a school record for yards per carry. Even though he isn’t blessed with size, he is a tough kid who will break tackles and run through initial contact. Strong below the waist, has great balance, and will take off when he finds a crease. Comes from a military family background and has been touted for how hard he works and how disciplined he is with his approach. He is the kind of piece that gets added to a backfield and creates a spark right away. Short but compact frame with a lot of muscle mass in his thighs. Will run through contact more than his size suggests. Tough kid with excellent contact balance and acceleration. Has a lethal combination of tools when it comes to movement and ball skills. Shoots out of a cannon with easy change of direction. Can make sharp, right angle type cuts while moving at a high rate of speed. Couples that movement capability with excellent vision. Can recognize running lanes and creases in a hurry. Makes himself low and hard to grab as he steps on the gas. Excellent hands catcher that can get balls away from his body on the move. Runs good routes out of the backfield, knows how to set linebackers up. Easy separation. Doesn’t have the kind of body to push piles or take an every down load of action. Size will limit him within certain roles of the position. Undersized as a blocker. Lacks the initial punch and has a hard time locking on. Has no lockout game and his hands won’t stay inside. Top end speed doesn’t match his quickness and short area burst. Needs better ball security. 2020 stats: 1245 yds, 8.0 ypc, 9 TD, 25 rec, 267 yds, 10.7 ypr, 2 TD. Third/fourth round. (A-29 1/8, H-9, BP-16, SS-3.98).
