Ourlads' Profile:
2020 Guide: What Ourlads' Scouting Services said about JALEN ELLIOTT: Notre Dame 6003 205 4.78. Three-year starter, Richmond, VA. Played one and two high safety with some experience in the box. Solid movement skill. Usually in the right place. Tracks well moving downhill with solid angles to the ball. Can take on blocks close to the line and shed on the move. Solid tackling skill to gather and finish when squared up. Underneath can read the quarterback in zone coverage and react on the throw. When in position, battles at the catch point with decent ball skills. Can match most tight ends. As a deep safety doesn’t give up plays over the top but can play with too big of a cushion. At times seems to play it safe when one or two high and there is too much space between deep and intermediate zones. Some hesitation and reaction as he will give up a completion underneath on a ball he could have batted down. Struggles to match up against a speedy slot receiver. Some hip tightness limits reactions to route breaks. Lacks speed to consistently recover if separated. Has flashed solid play and has good size. Figures to play well on special teams. Could stick as a backup/special teams player. Senior Bowl notes: Played the deep hole and in the box. Showed excellent range in pursuit and was around the ball a lot. Tackled well with finish. Matched tight ends one-on-one mirroring route breaks and playing tight coverage. Solid reactions over the top. 2019 stats: 49 T, 2 PBU, 2 INT. OSR:23/24. Seventh round/PFA. (A-31 3/4, H-9 1/8, VJ-34, SS-4.30).
