Has played primarily a deep outside corner in the Aztecs 3-3-5 defense but started his career as a safety. He was given an opportunity to play safety at the Senior Bowl also getting reps at nickel. Solid footwork he has a quick smooth pedal and easily maintains cushion. Times his turn and run on vertical routes to consistently stay in phase. Lateral agility shows up in transition as he can quickly break on out cuts and quick slants. Adept at deep outside zone concepts he processes multiple routes and squeezes the voids between zones. Has enough speed to cover deep. Sudden to break on the ball he can get to the catch point and break up a pass. Quick getting downhill in run support he is a secure tackler with some big hits driving through a receiver. Has little experience with press coverage and struggles to match shifty receivers. In man coverage has some trouble with double moves. Overall speed needs more evaluation. His versatility creates opportunities to make an NFL roster. At his best as a zone defender he could play safety, corner, or nickel in the right scheme. His tackling skill projects well to NFL coverage units.
