Ourlads' Profile:

2021 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about KELVIN JOSEPH: Kentucky, 6010 192 4.35. Redshirt sophomore entry, one year starter, Baton Rouge, LA. Transferred from LSU after his freshman year and became a starter at corner in 2020. High upside talent with good height and length for the position. Played in a zone heavy scheme which asked him to play multiple coverage including Cover 2, 3, and quarters. Used a variety of techniques including press, press and bail and off coverage. In a small sample showed solid man to man skill. As a hard corner demonstrated ability to collision and reroute along with getting up the field under intermediate cuts. Balances high/low routes with proper spacing giving him a two way go with the ball in the air. In off coverage he has a deliberate pedal and normally maintains cushion. He’s quick to adjust to speed of release. With fluid hips he easily gets into a lateral run coming from press and bail or reacting to an upfield release. Has the speed to stay with deep routes and locates the ball when in phase. Impressive range in zone coverage when he balances routes in the deep outside. Had an outstanding interception over the top of a switch route recovering from being out of position. Has made some outstanding plays on the ball. Can be physical attacking blocks and is a willing tackler. There is inconsistency in his play as a one year starter. He can get tied up on stalk blocks and moved out. There were times he had to recover from poor positioning over the top. He needs to develop more consistent eye discipline as a zone defender and not get attracted to one route. Teams will be checking to make sure off-field issues are behind him. He has the tools of an elite corner. 2020 stats: 25 T, .5 TFL, 1 PBU, 4 INT (1 TD). Third/fourth round. (A-31 7/8, H-9 1/4, VJ-35, SS-4.23).
