Ourlads' Profile:

2018 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about DANTE PETTIS: Washington, 6004 186 4.47. Three-year starter from San Clemente, CA. An explosive playmaker and return man. A good athlete with quick feet and a pound for pound toughness to his play. Competes at a high level with strong football instincts to make dynamic plays. Has good release footwork at the line of scrimmage, winning with his savvy and quickness. Good route runner at all three levels, using stems and head nods to set up defenders. Instinctual knack to find holes in zones. Creates separation with good acceleration out of his breaks. Has good top end speed to run away from defenders. Good catch radius with the athletic ability to contort his body to make the catch. Has the ability to pluck the ball out of the air with strong and quick hands. Works well and shows good focus when making catches in traffic. Wins 50/50 balls with a good tracking ability and uses savvy timing to high point the football. Has good catch and run ability using his elusiveness to make the defender miss and good acceleration to get extra yardage. Above average effort in the run game. An elite return man at the NCAA level and is the career record holder with nine punt returns for touchdowns. Struggles with press man physical corners and will have to adjust at the pro level. Doesn’t get back on top of corners and control the route once he has beaten them with his speed. Had inconsistent production. Comes from an athletic background as his father Gary Pettis, played 11 seasons in the MLB. His cousin, Austin Pettis, was a wide receiver with the St. Louis Rams. Pettis is a dynamic playmaker who is tough and savvy. 2017 stats: 63-761, 12.1 ypr, 7 TD, 21-428 PR, 20.4 avg, 4 TD. Did not work out at Combine, his choice. Third/fourth round. (A-32 1/4, H-9 1/2, VJ-36, SS-DNP).
