Three-year starter. All-Pac 12 the last two years, first team in 2023 in addition to earning All-America honors. Morris Trophy Award winner. Fautanu is an ideal fit for a zone blocking scheme where he can get on defenders in a hurry with a quick second burst into space. While Fautanu did play both guard and tackle over his career, he was predominantly on the outside and his tool set matches that. A comfortable mover with rare body control and ability to adjust his weight. Can credibly project to both inside and outside roles and has the upside of a Pro Bowl lineman in time, but the team that drafts him and their situation up front will dictate where he ends up. This is the kind of player you simply get in the building and figure out the usage down the road. A unique blend of physical traits paired with a never-quit, physical attitude. Shows easy quickness in his feet after an explosive get off from his stance. Will remain twitchy and active leading up to and through engagement. Goes for the knockout blow with both hands and if he connects, creates a lot of movement. Sudden burst as he drops into pass protection sets and will keep his hands ready to pounce. Easy bender through lower body. Can stay square when his feet are where they need to be. Fast to get out in space and to the second level and brings plenty of power on the move. Will get ahead of himself at times and lose his sense of control. Overshoots his intended aiming point and ends up with his facemask looking at the ground. Does not maintain a good latch with his hands. Moves too fast for his own good and will leave himself vulnerable to penalties.
