Three-year starter. Three-time All-ACC including third-team honors in 2023. He aligns all over the front for Clemson, but typically aligned as a 2i in even fronts and as a zero-tech in odd fronts. Possesses great height and fringe weight with a slim frame and a burly lower body. Impressive strength to create significant knockback on engagement. Aggressive at the point-of-attack with strong, active hands to extend. An excellent run defender who dominates against solo blocks with a sturdy anchor, powerful upper body, and will peek into the backfield to find the ball carrier. Plays best in two-gap schemes where he controls the line-of-scrimmage with square hips and leverages multiple gaps. Sets the edge with low pad level, strong hands with good placement, and a violent temperament. When penetrating, he nose dives into gaps with good power to work his way through to the backfield. Adds value in pass rush using his brute strength to collapse the pocket. Uses a decent variety of pass rush moves to win including a polished club-and-rip move and a bull rush. Shows the versatility to excel across the entire defensive line. A limited athlete who struggles to flip hips smoothly. Heavy-footed with slow movement skills. Needs to work on lowering his pad level and he gets stood up against double teams. He occasionally engages with a very wide base when anchoring which causes him to get flattened. Adequate lateral agility and change-of-direction that hinders his effectiveness on stunts. Needs to improve his pass rush plan as he stalls out regularly and shows limited counter rush moves. Lacks bend to be a true pass rush threat off the edge. Despite his lack of weight, he displays marginal foot speed and is not a threat in pursuit.
