Ourlads' Profile:
2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JA'LYNN POLK:
Washington | HT: 6013 | WT: 203 | 40 time: 4.52 | Arm: 3134 | Hand: 0934 | Wing: 7412
Three-year starter. Began career at Texas Tech where he started seven games in 2020. Transferred to Washington in 2021 and was injured week one with a collarbone fracture that required surgery. Showed a glimpse of what he could do, albeit inconsistently because of the two future pro receivers he shared the field with, by leading the team in yards per reception and average depth of target. In 2023, Polk took it to another level finishing with the fifth most single season receiving yards in program history. A uniquely built receiver who looks like he belongs in the running back room. Has developed a credible pro receiver skill set that can create matchup problems that stem from his twitchy, strong style. While his movement traits may not lead to wins consistently, he has the strength and confidence to win in traffic. Best suited for a complementary number two or three role. Thick build with well distributed muscle that plays functional across multiple spectrums. Can play through contact and attack the ball with his hands in traffic. Does not seem bothered in contested situations, will break tackles with the ball in his hands, and can impact the game as a blocker. Routes are both sharp and sudden at the breaking point. Can make an impact at all three levels with an aggressive play style. Shows stiffness in his hips with a lack of fluidity after the catch. Lost his way in the poor weather game against Oregon State, putting multiple easy balls on the ground. Needs to show a better feel for coverages and beating press coverage. May not have enough long speed to consistently get over the top.
2023 Stats: 69-1159, 16.8 ypr, 9 TD, 32 yds rushing, 1 TD. OSR:15/33. Draft projection: 4th/5th round
