Junior entry, two year starter. Second-team All-SEC in 2023. Slender frame with good length. Outstanding athletic traits for the position. Played both off and press man along with multiple outside zone concepts including cover three and four. Playing press man he is both reactive and able to throw an off-hand jam at a receiver on an outside release. Patient to ignore the first move away from his leverage, he has remarkable ability to stay with multiple cuts. Excellent ability to mirror route breaks and stay in phase up the field. In off coverage he shows a quick shuffle into a lateral shuffle as the cushion starts to break. Eye discipline to keep focus on the receiver in man coverage is excellent. This allows him to read the receiver’s hands and attack the catch point and make a big hit. A lot of his ball production was a result of that. He’s solid processing route combinations in zone with good vision and spacing to balance multiple routes. Georgia played a lot of quarters so he often played with his back to the boundary with outside leverage. Plant and drive often came from a lateral run or shuffle and was decent with no wasted steps. Willing in run support he has solid wrap and drive tackling skill. Functional strength is limited as he was too easily handled by stalk blocks on the perimeter. He flashed the ability to make plays on the ball but was more likely to make the tackle and limit the gain than take the ball away. Breaking on the ball from a lateral shuffle could have been a factor. In phase, his ability to locate the ball could be better. Has the tools to be a versatile starter in any scheme.
