Junior-entry, two-year starter. Two-time All-Big 10 selection including third-team honors in 2023. Typically aligned as the 2i in Ohio State’s four-down fronts, and also aligned as the three-tech. Possesses average height and notably underweight with a muscular frame and solid arm length. Possesses a unique blend of strength and athleticism that make him an enticing prospect. Phenomenal explosiveness off the line-of-scrimmage as he puts immediate strain on the offensive line. Excellent power on engagement to create significant push into the backfield right at the snap. Plays low with strong, active hands above his eyes to win leverage. Shows good bend in his waist and flexion in his ankles. Utilizes a deadly bull rush move to defeat offensive linemen and pressure the quarterback. Notable lateral agility in stunts, and decent change-of-direction when redirecting. Against the run, he is best in one-gap schemes where he uses his explosiveness, quick twitch, and strength to fire into gaps, clog holes, and work into the backfield. High motor player who wins with second effort. While his explosiveness off the line stands out, he is late reacting to the ball and needs to work on timing up the snap better. Inconsistent hand placement on engagement. Must find ways to disengage from blocks as he struggles to detach. Need to see a more polished pass rush plan; does not go into every play with a plan to win. Needs to build his arsenal of pass rush moves as he relies on his bull rush too often. Stiff lower body hinders his ability to finish sacks. Displays a marginal anchor; gets knocked off balance regularly against solo blocks. Cannot handle double teams and will get driven off the line-of-scrimmage with ease. Gets reached easily due to slow reaction time off the ball. Lack of production in pass rush is concerning considering his skillset.
