One year starter. Second-team All-SEC in 2023. Has been a rotational defender in the Alabama defense with playing time increasing each year. Has solid length and size for the position with desired quickness and speed. Plays primarily from a two point stance as an outside linebacker but also had reps with his hand in the dirt as a defensive end in a five and wide nine. Quick at the snap, his get off and long arms gives him immediate leverage on a blocker. Playing the run he flashes ability to stun and separate from blocks. Has excellent lateral movement and can work inside and chase across the field or pursue on the perimeter. Has been used on inside stunts at times to clog running lanes. As an outside linebacker will take flat drops. Is adept at finding the outside receiver and flip his hips to the throwing lane while reading the quarterback and any flat release from inside. His length creates problems for quarterbacks trying to find an intermediate window. Has been a productive pass rusher as quickness and speed get him around the corner. Can bend, flatten and chase the quarterback with solid adjustments to step up and movement in the pocket. Has a variety of moves including bull rush into a move dip and rip and push pull. Shows fundamental wrap and drive tackling skill. Lacks power versus tight end run blocks and is too easily knocked back and turned out. Not a consistent edge setter as he lacks shed technique and tends to get high on blocks. Too easily stalemated on stunts. Needs to develop inside counter moves as tackles can get away with oversetting. Has been an excellent special team player and kick blocker. Has upside as a 3-4 outside linebacker but needs development.
