2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about ENNIS RAKESTRAW JR.:
Missouri | HT: 5113 | WT: 183 | 40 time: 4.51 | Arm: 3200 | Hand: 0812 | Wing: 7558
Junior entry, three year starter. Has been a starter since he arrived at Missouri in 2020 but missed most of the 2021 season with a knee injury. Slender, somewhat high cut frame with long arms. Has played outside corner along with slot corner in obvious passing downs. Has experience in zone and man coverage including using press, off and hard corner technique. Fluid athlete with quick footwork and reactions. In off coverage he played with a tight cushion using quick short steps in his pedal. Excellent lateral movement and agility shows up reacting to route breaks. Sudden to break on the ball he closes with a burst. Aggressive tackling he tends to go low with force and makes some big hits. In press coverage he flashes a stiff off-hand jam to disrupt the release. Has mirror ability to stay with route breaks and excellent recovery burst if separated. Uses his long arms well to attack the catch point and has been productive breaking up passes. Can get his hand in the basket on the hit. As a zone defender, shows a good football IQ as he communicates routes well and closes voids between zones. As a hard corner, is adept at looking for work and finding the throwing lane or positioning with proper spacing against multiple routes. Gives up leverage at times in press and there is some vulnerability to double moves. Can get grabby as a result. Can be a little late with a jam causing separation. Has questionable functional strength. While he shows no fear attacking blocks, he gets easily walled off at times. Tackling is inconsistent as he catches some tackles and gets carried. At times receivers get up on his toes in cushion causing separation on initial route break. Lacks great hands for interceptions. Ascending prospect with starting potential.
