Two year starter. Second-team All-ACC in 2023. Physical corner with excellent functional strength for the position. Primarily a press man corner in the Florida State scheme but had reps in off man and zone coverage. Has some experience in the slot. Patient on the release, he consistently ignores first moves away from leverage and mirrors double moves. Uses both a reactive press and a physical jam at the line. Often engages an off and jam as a receiver works outside and vertical. Strong jam can disrupt the route. Excellent footwork allows him to react to route breaks and stay in phase throughout. Has been able to undercut a route break to make a play on the ball. Physical style has been effective even against bigger receivers. If separated he can quickly recover. As a zone defender he shows a smooth pedal and vision and footwork to balance combo routes. Physical reacting to the throw, he battles at the catch point and can separate a receiver from the ball. Solid in run support he’s fundamentally sound tackling showing gather, wrap, and drive. Occasionally goes low but rarely misses. Ball location in phase can be a problem as he has a tendency to keep his focus totally on the man even in phase. Has trouble getting his head around to find the ball especially near the goal line. He breaks up a lot of passes but has given up some plays as well, as at times he whiffs at the catch point. His elite man cover skills are tempered some by his overly physical approach as he can be grabby on route breaks. Burst reacting with the ball in the air is average. A team that likes to press will like his skill set.
