Junior entry, one year as a full time starter. First team All-Pac 12 and consensus All-America in 2023. Comes from a football family as his father Luther was a ten year NFL veteran and brothers Kaden, Christian, and Noah are currently on NFL rosters. Compact frame with length and power. Worked mostly from a two point stance in a wide nine alignment. Shows solid functional upper body strength with ability to use his hands to stun and separate from blocks. Flashes a violent push pull move to quickly shed and work to the ball. Solid run defender setting the edge or sifting inside against inside runs. Tough to get around and consistently makes plays on the perimeter. Relentless to chase in the backfield and across the field. Playing an outside linebacker spot in the Utah defense he has limited coverage reps, but shows the ability to drop to the flat under intermediate routes. As a pass rusher he has above average quickness at the snap and can quickly get his hands into a blocker creating a two way go. At his best with a bull rush into a move as he can get a blocker off balance with initial strike. Shows the push-pull and spin move to get free, working outside or inside. Has the power to collapse the pocket cutting off passing and escape lanes for the quarterback. Not the best bend and squeeze to the quarterback as he lacks great flexibility. As a result, pad level suffers at times against powerful blockers. Lateral agility is average and there can be an extra step changing direction, causing him to be a step late to the play. He’s still an ascending player with room to develop. Can be a solid contributor most likely in a 3-4 scheme.
