Houston Christian | HT: 6036 | WT: 252 | 40 time: 4.64 | Arm: 3438 | Hand: 1000 | Wing: 8234
Two year starter. First-team All-Southland Conference in 2023. Transferred from Cornell where he spent three years primarily playing safety. Was a quarterback/wide receiver in high school so saw his first action as an outside linebacker when he arrived at Houston Christian. FCS prospect who is raw but has outstanding size and length for an outside linebacker. Played from a two point stance in a wide nine but occasionally lined up as an overhang player. Flashes ability to use his long arms to control blockers and slip a block on the move. Solid tackling skill, he has a tackle radius to wrap up ball carriers in space. He’s more advanced as a pass rusher showing a natural feel for getting upfield and around the corner on a tackle. Quick at the snap he can use his arms to chop and swipe or use an arm over or under to keep a blocker off and work the edge. Even if blocked, his second effort and agility get him back into the play. Flashed ability to counter back underneath versus an oversetting tackle. Has been used to drop in coverage and has a solid feel for zone drops getting in the throwing lane against intermediate routes and breaking on underneath throws. He struggles against the run as he lacks a solid punch and lower body strength. He can get too high on a block and easily washed out or hooked by a powerful tackle or tight end. He showed well from a three point as a pass rusher at the Senior Bowl giving scouts a chance to see what he might look like as a situational rusher. That could be his role early but he has the tools to develop into a solid 3-4 outside linebacker.
