Four-year starter. Two-time team captain who played in 40 games for Texas A&M dating back to his true freshman season. All-SEC freshman team in 2020. Typically aligned as the zero-tech in odd fronts, and has aligned at multiple positions in even fronts. Great height and weight with notably long arms and a massive, burly frame. Aligns with an athletic, natural stance to spring out with a quick first step. An impressive athlete for his size who uses quick feet to make ground rapidly. Plays low and engages consistently with hand inside, and is able to get decent push in the backfield. His sheer mass and effort make him a challenge for offensive linemen to block. An excellent two-gap run defender who keeps his hips square as he controls the line-of-scrimmage with excellent strength and athleticism. Shows a number of ways to defeat blocks including a snatch and a swim move. Impressive lateral agility for his size on stunts and when slanting into gaps. Uses brute strength to squeeze into lanes and work into the backfield. Displays the versatility to excel in both one-gap and two-gap schemes. Shows an extensive arsenal of pass rush moves to make an impact. Uses violent hands and an active, strong lower body to collapse the pocket. Possesses a strong motor and makes play with second effort. Loses his balance too often and ends up on the ground against solo blocks. Struggles to hold his own against double teams and gets knocked off the line. Has difficulty creating extension and must learn to utilize his length to his advantage. Tight hips hinder his ability to redirect and change direction. Lacks bend when closing on the quarterback. Need to see a more polished pass rush plan with counter moves to take his game to the next level.
