2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about LUKE MCCAFFREY:
Rice | HT: 6015 | WT: 198 | 40 time: 4.46 | Arm: 3018 | Hand: 0958 | Wing: 7412
Two-year starter. All-Conference USA in 2023. Spent two seasons at Nebraska before transferring to Rice. Moved to wide receiver from quarterback in 2022. Son of former Pro Bowl receiver Ed McCaffrey and brother to All-Pro running back Christian. Coming from such a notable family of NFL playmakers, McCaffrey’s path was anything but straight. The late transition to receiver makes his production and skillset at the position even more impressive. He is a pure football player in every sense of the word, one that has an obvious deep understanding of the game. The movement traits and frame that lacks reach and strength will hold him back in specific situations, but they can be hidden in a slot-type role. He will find ways to contribute on both offense and special teams. Rapid footwork off the line. Wins at multiple levels of the route. Can sink and sit. Abrupt change of direction. Plays with glue on his hands. Tough and willing extending himself in traffic. Winner in contested situations. Top gear will not be enough to get over the top. Pure burst is limited. Could help the passer by snapping his head around quicker.
2023 Stats: 71-992, 13.9 ypr, 13 TD. OSR:13/33. Draft projection: 5th-7th round
