Four year starter. Second-team All-Conference USA in 2023. Transferred from Independence CC in 2020 where he was a starter. Has desired size and length for an off the ball linebacker. Plays in the box with some overhang reps. Plays with a lot of energy and chases sideline to sideline. Flies downhill on his read and is aggressive attacking gaps. Can scrape off tackle and make plays in the alley. Makes a lot of tackles as he’s all over the field. Decent spot drop zone skill he has the twitch to react on short throws. Keeps his head on a swivel in his drop. Has stressed the throwing lane even when he’s too shallow. Tackles well running through tackles coming in hot and wrapping and driving. Has been used to blitz inside and off the edge. When free he can close in the backfield. Block destruction is not a strength as he lacks a strong punch to separate. Tends to let in-line blocks in his frame. Lacks instincts to consistently fit gaps. Has tunnel vision on key diagnose and fails to pick up blockers consistently. Likes to take open windows and will go back door at times. It’s hit or miss in those situations. Has run by some tackles in-line with a poor read and path to the ball. Seems to play his own defense guessing at times and is out of control. Mirror ability in man coverage is average. There are some tools to like but some refinement is necessary to play in the NFL. Should be a solid special team player.
