Junior entry, two-year starter. Earned first team All-Pac 12 honors in 2023. Began career at Minnesota in 2021 where he helped fill in for an injured Mohamed Ibrahim and finished second on the team in rushing. Transferred to Oregon in 2022 and became one of the most productive dual-threat weapons in the class, leading the country’s running backs in catches last season. He may not pass the initial eyeball test when looking for the prototype-size, but his tape, production, and the trend of smaller NFL backs creating explosive plays should lead Irving into an important role early in his career. This is the kind of shifty back who needs to be given a dozen touches weekly via the run and pass game because of how much he can create on his own in space. Low-to-ground runner who can play fast with his knees bent. Hard to find, hard to get a clean shot on. Excels after contact with his slippery style. Lethal in space as a receiver. Will take a short dump off and accelerate to his top speed in a blink, but always capable of a sharp cutback. Plays bigger than his size. Will lower his shoulder and keep the feet moving after contact. Lack of weight and length will get him overwhelmed in pass protection, a role he was rarely used in. Will see too many runs stuffed at the point of attack. An easy takedown if a defender gets a clean hold of him. Might be more gadget than an every down contributor.
