Two year starter. First-team All-Big 12 and AP third team All-America in 2023. Tall corner with long arms. Quick-footed athlete with smooth movement in all directions. Has experience in multiple coverage including off and press man along with outside and hard corner zone concepts. In press man, mixed a reactive press mirroring movements at the snap with a two or off hand jam to disrupt the release. Playing cover two man he is adept at trail technique normally keeping his interval and getting his long arms to the catch point. Solid turn and run versus vertical routes. In off man, shows a quick pedal with a well-spaced cushion. Fluid transitions for the most part as the receiver works up field. As a hard corner he flashes ability to reroute wide receivers to allow safeties to balance seam vertical routes. He balances high/low routes well and has good vision to see multiple receivers. Closes the void in zones to handle crossers from the opposite side. As an outside third and quarter player the quick-footed pedal gets depth allowing him to stay in phase against most deep outside releases. Shows a quick plant and drive with the ball in the air. Long arms help with ball skills at the catch point even from behind. Willing tackler with some big hits, but often doesn’t wrap. At times, leaves his feet on tackles with some bad misses as a result. Not the best against stalk blocks as he can get washed out. His pedal can be tall and segmented, slowing down transitions. Cushion can be too big creating space for receivers to break open. Has some problems with double moves from shifty receivers. At his best as a zone defender and will fit in a zone heavy scheme.
