Two year starter. Over-aged prospect who transferred from Louisiana-Monroe where he started for three seasons. Started in the program as a wide out in 2018. First team All-Big 12 in 2022 and second team in 2023. Has the desired physical and athletic attributes of an NFL corner. Has experience in zone and man schemes including hard corner and deep outside concepts. Solid mirror ability in both press and off-man. In off coverage he shows a smooth patient pedal. His fluid hips allow him to adjust to the receiver's tempo and easily turn and run as a receiver goes vertical. Excellent mirror ability he can cut off route breaks in all directions. Used often as a press corner he can stick a release with a physical off-hand jam. Rarely gives up leverage off the line. Has the speed to stay in phase on vertical routes and can locate the ball. As a zone defender, is a competent processor of multiple routes and positions well between receivers in high low zones. Shows a quick break and drive with the ball in the air and has been extremely productive getting his hands to the catch point. As a former wide receiver he can go up and get the ball with soft hands for interceptions. Can be aggressive at times in run support, but there is inconsistency tackling. Not the most physical tackler. Will stop on contact and rely on wrapping and holding on. Has had some misses in space. He will show an occasional whiff on the ball in phase as he can be late getting his head around. Can get a little grabby at times reacting to quick cuts, and recovery speed is a little suspect. Overall, a productive corner with starting potential.
