2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about AINIAS SMITH:
Texas A&M | HT: 5093 | WT: 190 | 40 time: 4.48 | Arm: 2900 | Hand: 0812 | Wing: 7014
Four-year starter. Smith is a widely used playmaker that enters the NFL with a growing list of durability concerns. He played in just four 2022 games prior to a lower body injury that required surgery, broke a finger late in 2023, and had a stress fracture discovered at the NFL Scouting Combine this past March. On the field, his tape is impressive across multiple areas. The slot receiver has a unique blend of strength and mobility in his lower body joints to create sharp movement both as a route runner and ball carrier. He is a feisty competitor who can and has been used as a receiver, rusher, and returner. Once he gets a clean bill of health and if he can stay on the field, Smith is the guy who makes and sticks to a roster because of the multiple hats he can wear. Competitive nature complements his roles. Will fight through defenders, break tackles, and create on his own. Understands how to make himself small and can move with sudden burst in any direction at any time. Ball security habits need to be cleaned up. Puts too many balls on the ground whether it is as a returner or receiver/rusher. Recent durability concerns are a factor considering his violent playstyle. More quick than fast, limiting his route tree down the field.
