2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JEREMIAH TROTTER JR.:
Clemson | HT: 6000 | WT: 228 | 40 time: 4.52 | Arm: 3112 | Hand: 0914 | Wing: 7434
Junior entry, two year starter. First-team All-ACC and first-team All-America in 2023. The son of former NFL All-Pro linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Sr. Trotter is a different kind of player than his father but just as effective. He lacks ideal height and has a slimmer frame but his size is good enough to play in today’s NFL. An instinctive and versatile player who fits what NFL teams look for in an off-the ball linebacker. Outstanding agility, his strengths are playing in space and coverage. Very active he’s quick to read and react and shows an extreme burst getting to the perimeter on outside runs. Has range in pursuit and gets to tackles across the field that most others can’t. Has excellent change of direction and stop-start quickness. Avoids blocks in pursuit and flashes hand usage on the move. Can be explosive tackling, with the ability to square up and drive on tackles. When blitzing, he shows snap anticipation and closing speed in the backfield. Gets the right depth in zone coverage drops and has excellent use of peripheral vision and head on a swivel to process route combinations and read the quarterback’s delivery key. Has solid anticipation and is quick to plant and drive with the ball in the air. Creates problems for quarterbacks with his ability to close off throwing lanes. In man coverage he can match and mirror most backs out of the backfield and take a tight end up the field. Will lunge at times on tackles in space and miss. Not the most physical take on guy and hand usage is suspect. He can give ground on plays at him. Will need to develop better stack and shed ability. In the right scheme he can be an elite player.
