Four-year starter. All-Pac 12 all four seasons, including first-team honors in 2022. Laumea’s first two years were spent inside at guard where he projects in the NFL. He was the team’s starting right tackle over the back half of his career, which only widens his potential usage if injuries pile up along the front. Quick out of his stance and usually initiates contact with a violent punch. He is a highly competitive, try-hard type that plays through the whistle with energy and pop. His lower half is twitchy and his ability to reach his points in the run game will work well in zone blocking schemes. There is not a lot of upside to reach for with him. He lacks natural flexibility and length to factor in pass protection consistently and there are several instances of poor hand techniques. His athleticism and power are not enough to make up for them. Laumea projects to a backup role but does offer versatility. Athletic and savvy post-snap. Gets across the defender’s face in a hurry and moves with effective forward lean. Will get himself into position with a wide base. Stays active. Replaces his hands and will re-work his feet. Lack of length and proper hand placement led to several pass protection issues. Pad level is inconsistent. Will lose knee bend positioning and lean from the waist. Poor recovery in pass protection.
