2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about DEVIN LEARY:
Kentucky | HT: 6012 | WT: 215 | 40 time: 4.65 | Arm: 3078 | Hand: 0912 | Wing: 7438
Five-year starter. Spent five seasons at North Carolina State before transferring to Kentucky in 2023. Suffered season ending injuries in both 2022 (shoulder) and 2020 (fibula). His best season came in 2021 where he broke the program record set by Philip Rivers for passing touchdowns. The highly experienced, tough-minded signal caller has the arm talent to make it at the next level. Has a small, but thick frame and a fast release. The accuracy woes led to a career high in interceptions and career low in completion percentage in his one season in the SEC. The starting point is strong enough to warrant a third string job for Leary, but he will need to prove he is more the 2021 version of himself than the 2023 one if he wants to stick to a roster long-term. Natural thrower that spins it well to all levels. Puts the right tempo on his passes to short and intermediate levels. A receiver-friendly passer. Always-present toughness in the pocket. Can handle pressure and will keep his eyes downfield. Accuracy and ball placement is inconsistent. Mechanics seemed rushed at times. Wide misses on downfield balls. Small frame with multiple season injuries in his history.
2023 Stats: 209/371, 2746 yds, 56.3%, 25 TD, 12 INT, 1 rushing TD, 134.3 QB rating. Draft projection: 5th-7th round
