Junior entry. Three year starter. First-team MVC and FCS All-America in 2023. Physical corner with a compact muscular frame. Played mostly off coverage with a limited amount of press man. As a press corner, can be physical with stiff jam on turn and run. In off coverage, shows a shuffle pedal to maintain spacing and shows quick downhill reactions out of the pedal. Works to a lateral and turn in run, timing transitions to stay in phase on vertical release. Fluid in transition he shows excellent change of direction and lateral movement. In zone concepts he has excellent eye discipline and peripheral vision to see route combinations and the quarterback’s delivery key. Quick plant and drive with the ball in the air, he can get to the catch point and is physical breaking up passes. Wins most battles on 50/50 balls. Excellent in run support, he easily gets downhill and blows up block attempts by wide receivers. He can come off a block and make a play in space. Fundamentally sound tackle skill, he gathers with knee bend and is explosive striking, wrapping, and driving through tackles. Prone to double moves on the release in press as he doesn’t show patience reacting at the snap. Long speed is a question staying with speed receivers on vertical routes. His physical play and zone cover skill will be attractive to teams that play a lot of zone. His take on and tackling skill could put him in line for a role as a big nickel. Some may see him as a safety conversion.
