One year starter. Honorable mention All-Pac 12 in 2023. Transferred from Wyoming in 2022 where he was a one year starter and rotational edge rusher in three seasons. Well proportioned size with solid length. Played as a stand up end in a six, and wide nine depending on formation. Also played with his hand in the dirt in a five alignment. Plays with a hot motor and attacks blocks with a powerful strike with his hands. Aggressive hard charger, he plays with knee bend and can leverage blocks and hold the point against a tackle. Sets the edge against tight ends with a quick punch to stun and separate. Once free can chase to the edge and has solid tackling skill. As a pass rusher shows various moves off the ball and at the top. He shows chops, swipes and some push pull along with inside counters. He has a stutter outside-in move at the snap. Has made some big plays with strip sacks. Has been used often to rush the B gap when lined up in a five and at times has been effective on inside stunts. Can also run into blocks on inside stunts and get neutralized or washed out. There is some pop and stop and he can lose the gap too easily. Has trouble locating the ball at times as he gets too focused on the block. Has trouble with mobile physical tackles as he lacks the quickness at the snap to consistently turn the corner. Average lateral agility shows redirecting off blocks. There are redeeming qualities to work with but he will have to improve technique to finish against better players.
