Junior-entry, three-year starter. 2021 All-Conference Honorable Mention. He typically aligns as the boundary safety, but has played both safety position, cornerback, inside linebacker, and edge in Miami’s defense. Miami also trusts him singled-up on wide receivers in the boundary vs. 3x1 sets. Exceptional height and length with an ideal frame to work with. Good athlete with fluid hips, lateral agility when playing bail technique, and change-of-direction skills. Notable processing speed; recognizes route concepts quickly in deep and underneath zone coverage while visioning the quarterback, and will break on the ball to break up passes. Quality range, and plays best in two-high coverages. Breaks up passes with his back to the quarterback by playing the receiver’s hands with good timing. Needs to improve his physical toughness. Must improve his jam to disrupt the timing of the route especially in catch-man to give himself a chance. Wide receivers and tight ends run past him when he does not get hands on them and displays fringe recovery speed; concerning as he is the last line of defense. Bad eyes in man coverage. Fringe open-field tackling; leaves his feet and misses entirely, and needs to run his feet on contact to prevent yards after contact. A very raw prospect with enticing athletic ability who could develop into a solid piece for an NFL defense.
