Auburn | HT: 6024 | WT: 330 | 40 time: 5.52 | Arm: 3300 | Hand: 1018 | Wing: 7900
Three-year starter. Transfer from Kentucky prior to the 2023 season where he was an immediate contributor as a true freshman. A true nose tackle who aligns anywhere from zero-tech to 4i. Possesses solid height and great weight with a stocky build and decent arm length. An immovable force who controls the line-of-scrimmage with excellent lower-body strength and balance. Peeks into the backfield to find the ball carrier and is able to cross-face efficiently to leverage multiple gaps. Solid at creating extension versus solo blocks and uses exceptional upper body strength to shed. Strong hands to snatch linemen matched with a swim move to shoot into the backfield. Most effective as a two-gap run defender who gives up minimal yards against solo blocks or double teams with an elite anchor. A force on the interior who uses his all-around strength and anchor to regularly split double teams. Crosses face at the snap with decent twitch to slant into gaps. Gives tremendous effort and will not give up in pass rush or pursuit despite his lack of skills in these areas. Violence and power when taking ball carriers to the ground. Not an explosive athlete off the line-of-scrimmage and is limited when bursting upfield. Exposes his chest and allows offensive linemen to get hands underneath his pads frequently which limits his ability to collapse the pocket. Not an overly destructive player when shooting into gaps. Gets washed down the line against outside run schemes and struggles to get back in position. A non-factor in pass rush who will need to come off the field in these situations. A marginal athlete who lacks speed in pursuit. Teams in need of a true run-stuffing nose tackle will love his skill set.
2023 Stats: 17 T, 2 TFL, 1 sack. Draft projection: 4th/5th round
