Two-year starter. Spent one season at Independence Community College in 2019 before transferring to Kentucky in 2020, where he redshirted. After backing up two eventual pro tackles, Flax earned his shot in 2022. The thick, powerful blocker lacks the desired length and athleticism for the tackle position at the next level. His competitiveness shines through, however. After a rough first year as a starter, he won the starting job back and improved mightily in 2023. He shows flashes of proper technique and cohesion that can make him seem immovable. His struggles against NFL-caliber speed and quickness with the lack of length could move him inside but no matter what, he is a project that likely needs to play lighter and improve his reaction time. Heavy punch that will stifle a defender when accurate. Bends his knees well and will re-anchor with a wide base upright torso. Winner against the bull rush. Gets out of his stance with urgency and pop. Struggles to adjust quickly. Feet are heavy and tend to get stuck to the ground. Lack of length is a problem. Struggles to play with consistency. Heavy and slow when it comes to reaction.
