Three-year starter. All-Big 10 honorable mention the past two seasons. Aligns everywhere for the Minnesota offense including in the slot, on the perimeter, in-line, and is motioned around often. Huge tight end prospect with a bulky frame and average arm length. Assertive as a run blocker at the point-of-attack. Sustains blocks well especially on combos. Stalemates spilling edges in split-zone with toughness and physicality. Moves linebackers against their will especially on insert plays to open up running lanes. Sets a firm base when taking on defenders at the second and third level. The best part of his game is in pass protection where he acts as an extension of the offensive line. He uses exceptional technique, an impressive anchor, agility to run the hoop, and keeps his head on a swivel always looking for extra work. As a pass catcher, smooth hips help him separate in the short/intermediate passing game. Takes long strides in space matched with solid speed to stretch the field vertically. Sits down in holes in zone coverage to give the quarterback an easy throwing lane. Makes catches away from his body with outstretched arms and soft hands. Dexterity helps him make catches at awkward angles. Tough to bring down and will fight for additional yards-after-contact. Puts his head down when making contact and doesn’t see what he’s hitting. Lacks explosiveness off the line-of-scrimmage when flexed out. Not an overly athletic profile and struggles to separate at the top of his route. Physical defenders slow him down mightily. Needed to use his body to secure some catches. Undersized arms for his frame limit his catch radius.
