One year starter at USC after starting three seasons at Arizona. Second-team All-Pac 12 in 2023. Solid frame with length. Very experienced cornerback with five years playing experience. Has played multiple zone and man concepts with some time as a slot corner. He is best in press man coverage where he is able to use his long arms to keep wide receivers off his feet. He can be sticky in man coverage. Excellent footwork to mirror route breaks, he ignores first moves away from leverage and handles double moves well. Has enough speed to stay in phase in press and can disrupt the catch point with his long arms. Flashes ability in off and zone coverage with a smooth pedal and can balance multiple routes. Can be aggressive in run support and flashes wrap and drive on tackles. As an off man and zone defender, allows too much room in cushion to match route breaks. He often gets too easily separated from the receiver and the ball is often caught in front of him with room to run. He struggles to maintain leverage from a pedal and inside cuts can get away from him. Catch up speed is average and fast receivers can run away from him. At times gets turned around on a double move and is out of position playing off man. He shows hip tightness working laterally and it shows up playing in space. Wasted steps show up at times attacking blocks and he gets out of position. He often gets stuck on blockers and is not a consistent tackler. Press ability is his redeeming quality and teams that emphasize that will be a fit.
2023 Stats: 37 T, 2.5 TFL, 9 PBU, 2 INT. Draft projection: 7th round/PFA
