Three-year starter. Two-time All-Big 12 honorable mention. Most commonly aligned at three-tech. An imposing, pronounced frame with very long arms and great muscle definition. Best in one-gap schemes where he uses his effort and assertiveness to squeeze into gaps. Utilizes his length on contact to strike first. Fires into lanes with a quick first step and uses his length to grab onto ball carriers in the backfield. Violent hand swipes to shed blocks. Shows quick feet and quality lateral agility when slanting into gaps. A good athlete with excellent burst to be effective in stunts. High effort player in pursuit who has no “quit” in his game. Possesses tightness in his waist and struggles to drop his pad level. Exposes his chest shooting hands outside. Gets minimal drive on engagement due to his lack of functional strength and high pad level that gets him out-leveraged immediately. Gets washed down the line against zone run schemes. When taking on double teams, gets turned around and driven out of the play with ease. Marginal contact balance and falls to the ground too often. Gets stalemated in pass rush as he lacks an element of power in his game despite his massive stature. Lunges often on tackling attempts causing him to miss. While his natural position is at three-tech, his lack of pass rush skills limits him to only a role player. A complete project who must improve his technique in a number of areas, but his frame will catch the attention of scouts.
