Two year starter. Transferred from Hutchinson CC in 2022. Long tall and lanky corner with the size teams love. Played boundary corner with press and off man along with outside zone concepts. Also played slot corner based on matchups. At his best as a press corner where his long arms can stab the release, disrupting the receiver’s take off. Played both reactive press and physical with two and off hand jams on the release. Excellent reroute ability he consistently slows receiver on the take off and prevents an easy release. Has patience to ignore the first move away from leverage off the line. Easy turn and run as a receiver breaks vertical. Stays in phase deep and uses length to battle at the catch point. Wins most battles on contested catches. In off coverage uses a shuffle pedal to maintain spacing and works to a lateral run from there. Will often press and bail into lateral run at the snap. As a zone defender, balances overlapping zones and can find work in the deep outside. In run support he is a willing tackler and will pursue. Has trouble gathering his long frame on tackles and can give up yards after contact or miss. Lacks power to destroy blocks on the perimeter. Transitions can be sticky as hip tightness slows redirecting. Wasted steps can be a problem as well. Can get separated on quick route breaks by shifty receivers. Burst on plant and drive is average and he makes more tackles than plays on the ball. Plays the receiver’s hands even in phase and has trouble locating the ball. His height and length will be attractive as a developmental corner.
