Ourlads' Profile:
2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about STEVEN JONES:
Oregon | HT: 6053 | WT: 355 | 40 time: 5.43 | Arm: 3458 | Hand: 1034 | Wing: 8418
Four-year starter. Jones arrived at Oregon as a tackle and spent the majority of his first three seasons there (both left and right). He missed all but five games in 2022 with a foot injury, prompting him to return for 2023. Jones had to compete for the starting job over summer, which he won. The oversized, physical mauler will not win many workouts in shorts and a t-shirt, but he knows how to use his size and strength to their fullest potential. He is a hard guy to get around and his ability to anchor against the bull rush inside is a good starting point to build from. Projects best as a backup so a team can figure out if he can play at the speed of the NFL and if he can, there is an upside here that many will overlook. Big and strong with effective hand use. Can alter the path of a defender with a simple jab. Heavy hands attached to long arms and wide wingspan. Stays within himself and remains on his feet. Avoids oversetting and will play with a consistent flat back. Does not adjust well laterally. Can get stuck in mud when he needs to move away from his starting point. Pad level is inconsistent. Really labors when he needs to get across a fast uphill defender.
