Ourlads' Profile:
2024 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about JULIAN PEARL:
Illinois | HT: 6060 | WT: 312 | 40 time: 5.35 | Arm: 3518 | Hand: 1014 | Wing: 8558
Spent six years in college, four-year starter. All-Big 10 in 2023 and 2022. Pearl has the ideal pro body for the next level. He is athletically built and shows the baseline movement traits to try and develop into more consistency. He has a lot of experience at both right and left tackle with his best tape coming from the latter. Pearl’s power and girth is enough to anchor against pro defenders, but the issues with his lack of bend throughout his lower half makes him an easy target for well-developed edge rushers. Does not yet play up to his talent level and it appears some of his issues are technique-based. The right offensive line coach should be able to improve him enough to warrant a backup and/or swing tackle role within a year or two. Heavy punch with a strong lockout. Can maintain separation if he is squared up correctly. Will replace his hands and can play with a wide base. Does not sit back. Oversets and leans hard from the waist. Often opens up outside shoulder and his lack of natural footwork makes it hard to recover inside. Too many losses in pass protection.
Draft projection: 5th-7th round
