Ourlads' Profile:
2022 Guide: What Ourlads’ NFL Scouting Services said about KEVIN AUSTIN JR.:
Notre Dame, 6023 200 4.37. One-year starter, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Low on playing experience but has an upside based on skill toolset as well as tremendous improvement during the course of his last season. A physical specimen, with size, speed and strength. A high ball winner and a deep threat. Improved throughout his last season. Displayed solid hand fighting and physicality defeating press coverage. Very low catch numbers over the course of his career. Quick feet but shows some lower body stiffness on press release foot pattern. Explodes out of downhill transitions and comes back to the ball with aggression. Strong and physical hands at the catch point. Uses strength to his advantage to defeat defenders and to keep his body between the ball and defenders. Displays ability to use late hands for catches. Tracks deep balls well. Struggles with blocking techniques, often choosing to maul defenders with his strength as opposed to using proper hand placement and lower body mechanics. Shows tendency to slide off blocks because of poor body positioning. Early career character questions may cause concern for some teams. Limited press release moves, however film showed week to week growth in that area. Multiple foot surgeries may point to a health and availability issue. Good posture going into breaks, but will stand up coming out of breaks too often.
