Ourlads' Profile:
2019 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about KENDALL SHEFFIELD: Ohio State, 5113 193 4.40. Junior entry and first year starter from Missouri City, TX. Was a red-shirt at Alabama in 2015 before transferring to Blinn Junior College the next season. Joined Ohio State in 2017 playing in sub packages. Has blazing straight line speed and flashes an explosive burst to close. Used primarily as a press corner he has the ability to turn and run stride for stride on a vertical route. Will use a pedal in off and press and he’s a little jerky in movement, but is quick to turn and run if cushion breaks. If separated can be explosive in recovery mode catching up quickly. At times can be physical with jam and hold a receiver up. In off coverage and zone flashes sudden break and drive on short throws underneath. Needs to work his hands better to shed blocks as he can lay back or try to slip it. Tackling is inconsistent. Can be beaten off the line on a quick step and go as he will bite on the first move. Plays from behind more than his speed dictates. Catch up speed can save him but at times separation is too great. Route recognition is subpar. Struggles to find the ball in phase and has given up several touchdowns while in position. Has some tightness which is covered by recovery burst. Sheffield has explosiveness and speed needed but techniques, instincts and recognition skills are lacking. Enough upside to draft. 2018 stats: 35 T, 2 TFL, 8 PBU, 1 FF, 2 INT. Medical exclusion at Combine. Fifth/sixth round. (A-31 1/2, H-9 1/2, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
